Roofing Supplies Are Going Through the Roof!
Many roofing suppliers are raising their prices on roofing supplies, shingles, gutters, windows, siding and accessories. The price increases began in March 2014 and are expected to increase pricing again in April or May 2014. Pricing is expected to increase between 7% up to 10%. May roofing contractors are receiving letters from their suppliers about the increase in roofing supplies.
Why the Increase in Roofing Supplies?
Due to market conditions and other related issues, manufacturers and roofing supply companies are forced to increase their prices on roofing materials. Manufacturers are shipping roofing shingles to areas where homes have either been hit or devastated by tornados or hurricanes which is leaving a smaller supply for other areas.
Should Homeowners Be Concerned?
Unfortunately, yes. When manufacturers and roofing suppliers increase their pricing, roofing contractors have no other choice but to pass it on to the homeowner. This is why it is even more important for a homeowner to hire a roofing contractor who is a reputable roofing company.
Homeowners will need to be more careful in their choosing of a roofing company. A reputable roofing contractor should be able to provide the homeowner with reliable references. Homeowners should be aware of the type of products that are being used on their home. Some roofers may try to use seconds or damaged products and charge you for the price you should pay for quality products. It is the responsibility of the homeowner to hire a qualified roofing contractor. Homeowners, do you homework. Don’t hire someone who simply walks up to your house after a bad storm offering roofing services. Hire a roofing contractor who is local and responsible.
